    General introduction:Porro Prism, also known as Porro prism, is a refractive triangular prism used in optical instruments to modify the orientation of images. Paul prisms are isosceles right-angled prisms shaped from glass blocks with the end planes facing the right angle. In use, the light enters from the largest rectangular surface in the triangular prism, undergoes two total reflections on the inclined surface, and then penetrates the original incident plane and exits. Because the light only enters and exits in a normal state, the prism does not have the effect of dispersion. But the image passing through the Paul prism will be flipped 180°, and will travel in the original direction, that is, the direction of Paul prism travel is also changed by 180°. But because the image is reflected twice, the handedness is unchanged.

    Product Description:Paul prisms are most often used in pairs as a combination of double Paul prisms, with the second prism rotated 90° relative to the first. By letting the light pass through the two prisms arranged in this way, the net effect of the prism system is that the incident light rays are changed in parallel and the direction of travel is changed, the image is rotated by 180°, and the handedness remains unchanged. The double Paul prism system is suitable for small optical telescopes to change the image direction (the arrangement of the image reconstruction system), especially in many binoculars to provide image reconstruction and longer optical path folding, effectively shortening the distance between the objective lens and the eyepiece. distance. Typically, in a double Paul prism combination, the two prisms are glued together and the excess is trimmed to reduce weight and size. A stand-alone Paul prism can also be seen as a roof prism, but this is not used in binoculars. A variation of the double Paul prism is the Paul-Abbey prism.
